This second edition of the Handbook has been significantly updated to include material relocated from the green pages of Annex 10 — Aeronautical Telecommunications, Volume I — Radio Navigation Aids. Additional detailed frequency assignment planning criteria, developed by the Navigation Systems Panel and validated by the Frequency Spectrum Management Panel, on instrument landing systems (ILS) (localizer and glide path), VHF omnidirectional range (VOR), distance measuring equipment (DME), ground-based augmentation system (GBAS) and VHF data broadcast (VDB) has been included. This supplements the relevant Standards and Recommended Practices (SARPs) in Annex 10, in particular Volume V — Aeronautical Radio Frequency Spectrum Utilization, and provides guidance for the application of these SARPs.
